Nutcracker at Buhach High!

The very first photo story I worked on as a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed photojournalism student was a black-and-white story on the Boston Ballet. I was granted unlimited access to this internationally acclaimed performance house, and it was then that I fell in love with The Nutcracker. Since then I take every opportunity to photograph my most favorite ballet. A few years ago I traveled with some local Fremont dancers to the San Francisco Ballet, and this year I photographed a dress rehearsal of the local production at Buhach Colony High in Atwater. We have revitalized the Community section of our Merced Sun-Star Saturday paper, and it’s my job to come up with a good photo package for it each week. It was an easy choice this week, and I had a blast as always shooting one of my favorite subjects.

fab feedback!

Got a great email from my most recent couple, Alexandra and William!

Alexandra and William, Nov. 23, 2011

I spent a lovely afternoon with Alexandra and William the day before Thanksgiving. It was a photographer’s dream — they got married in a brief ceremony at the San Jose Clerk Recorder’s Wedding Chapel, and then they had dedicated the entire afternoon to taking pictures at two beautiful San Jose/Saratoga locations. We managed to dodge the incoming storm, and the overcast sky provided a nice, large softbox for the beautiful couple and their fabulous family and friends. Here are some of my favorites from their big day!

After the ceremony it was off to San Jose Rose Garden for some beautiful portraits! Even in late November there were plenty of blooming roses!

Then it was off to beautiful Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. We had the entire grounds to ourselves! And my Most Excellent Assistant, Mr. Czarlinska, hauled my step stool around for me the entire time! Thank you, Mr. Czarlinska! Tips are coming in the mail!:)

Congratulations again, guys! I had so much fun working with you and your family and friends!
